This project began with a front garden that was in major need of an overhaul. The original space was a chaotic mix of broken paving slabs, loose gravel, and weeds, creating an uneven and unsafe surface. Phase 1: New Boundary Fence
The first job was to remove the old, dilapidated fence and posts. We then installed a brand new, robust boundary fence using concrete posts and gravel boards for maximum durability and longevity. This was finished with vertically aligned, pressure-treated feather edge boards, creating a strong, continuous fence that provides excellent privacy and security.
Phase 2: Driveway Groundworks
With the new boundary established, our attention turned to the driveway. The entire area was excavated using a mini-digger, removing all the old paving, gravel, and organic material. We then laid and compacted a new, deep sub-base of MOT Type 1 aggregate to create a solid foundation, ensuring the driveway would not sink or shift.
Phase 3: Block Paving Installation
For the surface, we used high-quality, tumbled block pavers in a silver and grey colour mix. These were laid in a classic 45-degree herringbone pattern, renowned for its strength. The driveway was framed with a double-width border of dark charcoal pavers, creating a sharp, contemporary contrast that defines the space. The installation was completed with an application of kiln-dried sand, which was vibrated into the joints to lock the pavers together securely.
