This project began with a driveway that was in a serious state of disrepair. The aim was to completely transform the space with a modern, hard-wearing block paved driveway that would stand the test of time and enhance the property’s kerb appeal.
Project Overview:
Phase 1: Full Site Excavation
The first step was to break up and remove all the old, broken paving slabs and the inadequate foundation beneath them. The area was fully excavated to the required depth to prepare for a brand new, professional installation.
Phase 2: Sub-Base Construction
A solid foundation is paramount. We laid a new sub-base using MOT Type 1 hardcore, which was then thoroughly compacted with a heavy-duty plate compactor to create a strong and stable base, ensuring no future sinking or movement.
Phase 3: Paving & Design
We used a high-quality block paver in a mix of silver, grey, and buff tones. The main body of the driveway was laid in a strong, interlocking herringbone pattern.
Phase 4: Decorative Border
To frame the driveway and add a contemporary touch, we installed a stylish double-width border using a contrasting charcoal block paver. This creates a clean, defined edge and visually enhances the main paving pattern.
