Our team recently completed a full driveway transformation at a property in Chorley. The original driveway was outdated and in need of a complete replacement, so the client opted for a modern block paving design to enhance both functionality and kerb appeal.
Project Overview:
Phase 1: Excavation & Removal
We began by removing the existing driveway surface, including the old blockwork and surrounding walling, using specialist machinery. All waste materials were safely cleared from the site to create a clean base ready for construction.
Phase 2: Ground Preparation
Once excavated, we installed a robust MOT Type 1 hardcore sub-base to provide a solid foundation. The base was compacted in layers to ensure strength and long-term durability.
Phase 3: Edging & Drainage
Edging kerbs were fitted to frame the driveway neatly and to retain the block paving. We also ensured appropriate falls and levels were created to allow for correct surface water drainage.
Phase 4: Sand Screed Layer
A sharp sand screed was applied and levelled to precise measurements, preparing the ground for the block paving installation.
Phase 5: Block Paving Installation
The chosen blocks were a stylish grey-toned design, laid in a herringbone pattern to provide excellent interlock and durability. The colour perfectly complements the property’s exterior and adds a fresh, modern look.
Phase 6: Finishing Touches
Once the blocks were laid, kiln-dried jointing sand was brushed into all the joints to lock the paving securely in place. The entire surface was compacted, leaving a perfectly smooth and solid finish.
